One week down, countless more to go!
The first week at my new job was different and challenging. It is going to be difficult not knowing for a while. I have a hard time not knowing exactly what I have to do, what's expected of me and how everything works together.
But, that's what it's all about, isn't it? That's where the experience comes from: trying something new. I've just been racking my brain for the last week trying to figure out how I can make sure that I'm doing everything I can to succeed.
Then, someone said it...
"Be brilliant at the basics."
Omg. Well said!
How can you go wrong with that? I know the basics. I know how to keep my work space clean, pay attention to detail and make sure that each and every product has the same consistency of quality from the first to the last, regardless if there are 2 or 200. I know how to caramelize sugar, pipe with chocolate and cover cakes with Marzipan. All these things, I can be brilliant at and I will succeed without a doubt.
